What is Reflexology
Reflexology is a holistic healing therapy that has been practised for thousands of years across various cultures. It is based on the principle that specific points on the feet, hands, and ears correspond to different organs and systems within the body through interconnected pathways known as meridians
The body's energy flows through these pathways and when there is a blockage or imbalance in these energy pathways, it can lead to various health issues. Reflexology addresses issues that relate to the disruption of these meridians.
By applying pressure to these reflex points using reflexology massage, a reflexologist can stimulate the body's natural healing mechanisms, promote relaxation, and restore balance.
What Is Reflexology Massage
Reflexology massage is the application of various motions and strokes combined with varying pressures of a reflexologist's fingers and thumbs on certain points of the feet, hands and ears. These points related to various organs and sensory effects of the body
How Does Reflexology Work
Reflexology works by focusing on the reflex points using pressure and motion, clearing blockages in the meridians and restoring the body's natural flow of energy that relieves pain, discomfort and brings relaxation and aids relief from tension related conditions such as stress and poor sleep.
Reflexology Treatment
How is Reflexology Performed
Consultation and Assessment
Before a reflexology session begins, I will conduct a thorough consultation to understand your medical history, lifestyle, and specific concerns, including conditions such as anxiety, stress, kidney problems, pregnancy, hormone imbalance, menopause, and sleep problems. This enables me to tailor the session to your individual needs.
Relaxation And Comfort
Attending a reflexology session in my little cosy treatment room creates a calming and comfortable atmosphere where you'll be seated in a lafuma chair semi lying down during your treatment.
Reflex Point Identification
After the consultation and getting you comfortable and ready to receive your treatment, I will then identify the specific reflex points on your feet that correspond to the areas of concern.
For example, in cases of kidney problems, specific reflex points on the feet are targeted to potentially support kidney health.
Pressure Application
Using my fingers and thumbs, I will apply precise pressure to these reflex points in a systematic manner using reflexology massage techniques. The pressure will be firm but not painful, ensuring that the massage techniques provide the optimal benefits .
Techniques and Strokes
Various techniques and strokes are employed during a reflexology session, including thumb-walking, kneading, and rotating movements. These techniques aim to stimulate blood flow, release tension, and promote healing, making it an effective option for those dealing with sleep problems.
Feedback and Post-Session Care
After the session, I will provide feedback on what I observed during the session and offer suggestions for post-session care, particularly valuable for individuals experiencing menopausal symptoms, stress or anxiety.
I may also give you simple massage exercises to perform at home to help with the treatment.
