Shelby's Shed

Adam Precelton is a very special friend of the mindful mouse. Not only does he keep my smile bright and healthy as my dentist, Adam is also a talented friend who in his spare time is an accomplished wood turner. Adam with his skill and a few tools can take ideas to reality. In a world of industrialised production, Adam brings a personalised touch to a wide variety of objects, which can last through generations. One's imagination is typically the limit to what Adam can make on a lathe.

Adam was born and raised in Stratford upon Avon, only leaving the area to train in Dentistry at Cardiff University.

Enjoying and adept in working with his hands Adam gets a great deal of satisfaction out of 'making things'. Probably why dentistry appeals! He had his first taste working with wood when enrolling in a part time college class. After really enjoying this, he thought he would like to revisit and develop in this craft...

However this would be some years later. He finally bought his first lathe and started woodturning. He says he was "terrible!". Adam is a perfectionist so I imagine not! Over the last 10-15 years, self taught he has practiced, honed his craft and improved to the point he's proud for people to see work. Adam has also extended his skills to wood carving too, which again self taught, learning through a lot of trial and even more error! He has fashioned many beautiful different items, some decorative and some functional. Those who were lucky enough to see or own one of Adams object of art eventually persuaded him to start selling his creations.

Adam decided to open an Etsy shop. At the same time, he acquired a tortoise, and decided to name the shop after her, Shelby. Shelby’s Shed was born!

He has made the ethos of the shop to create things from wood that nature no longer wants. Woodworkers often call this ‘fogwood’ (found on the ground). He makes wooden items ranging from candle holders, bowls, decorative mushrooms, jewellery, clocks, keyrings, bottle openers. coasters and placemats. Now extending this to love spoons, kitchen spoons and spatulas, chopping boards, charcuterie boards and plaques which can all be personalised engraved if wished.

Adam has made for me unique crafted oil burners and beautifully wood turned incense holders which have been perfectly engraved with my branding, soon available in my upcoming online shop. To look at some of his beautiful products or to contact Adam for commissions click on the links below.

ADAM SAYS...

'TO REPURPOSE FALLEN WOOD INTO SOMETHING THAT SOMEONE CAN ENJOY IS AN AMAZING FEELING, GIVING THAT PERSON AN OBJECT THAT BRINGS THEM JOY, AND AT THE SAME TIME GIVING ME A GREAT DEAL OF SATISFACTION AND INNER PEACE."
